Suzhou
Suzhou is a famous historical city located in Southeastern China covering an area of 8,488 square kilometers (3,277 square miles) and having a population of around 6 million people and is commonly known as the most beautiful city in Southern China. It is famous for its 1000 year old ancient cities, water attractions and classical gardens. The most famous gardens, which have all become UNESCO world heritage sites, include “The Humble Administrator’s Garden” and “The Lingering-in Garden”. The famous Kunqu Opera has also become a world heritage site. It is referred to as “The Venice of the East” because of its canals lined with world class restaurants and romantic cafes.

Located in the northwest area of Suzhou, Tiger Hill extends over an area of 1.4 hectares and is 36 meters high (150 694 sq feet).
With 4,500 years history in China, Silk can be expertly produced to be different types, as well as be dyed and weaved into the fabric. Suzhou is famous for its silk production.
With two thousands history, Suzhou embroidery was originated in Wuxian, Suzhou and later on spread to the neighbouring areas such as Nantong, Wuxi, Changzhou, Yangzhou, Suqian and Dongtai in Jiangsu province.
As one of the four classical gardens in China, Lingering Garden is built in Ming Dynasty by Xu Jiongqing. And it was listed from the first as cultural relics of national importance in 1961. In 1997, the garden, along with other classical gardens in Suzhou, was recorded by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.
The Hanshan Temple is located five kilometers (3 miles) from the Old Town.
