Standard First Class, a good quality cabin with two single berths. The cabin will often have air conditioning, a radio, a lockable door, storage underneath the berths and a window table. A towel and bedding is often provided in the ticket price though often you will need to prepare your own bed with the linen provided, on trains where linen is not provided you can obtain them from the carriage attendant for a nominal fee.

Basic second class, sometimes called a ‘Kupe’ this is a cabin for four people with two lower bunks with storage underneath, two upper bunks, a window table and a lockable door. Note on some trains to and from Europe second class may be a cabin with three berths; top, middle and bottom. |
Third class sleepers, also often known as ‘Plazkart’, contain 54 berths in each carriage. The berths are grouped into nine cabins with no doors which contain six berths; two upper and two lower; plus two side berths over the corridor, one upper and one lower. The lower side berth may be transformed into a window table with two seats when not being used as a bed. While a mattress, pillow and blanket is provided for each berth, pillow cases, sheets and covers are not and may be obtained for a nominal fee from the carriage attendant. Common storage space is below the lower berths inside the cabin, the lower side berth and above the door inside the cabin. |
