Kunming

Kunming, the capital city of Yunnan Province, is highly reputed as being one of the greenest cities in China. It is also a well-known sightseeing destination and summer resort. The soil of the area is intensely fertile, with more than 10,000 plant species growing here, including the eight most prized flowers in Yunnan: camellias, azaleas, primroses, gentian flowers, lilies, magnolias, orchids, and Meconopsis. For its prominent position within flower production industry, the city was chosen as the venue for the International Horticulture Expo in 1999.
