Located on Peoples Square, adjacent to the citys municipal government building, Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Center plays a key part in displaying the city, and it has become a place for the citizens to learn about the past of Shanghai and look into its future, and also a window for international communication.  The whole exhibition center is historic and futuristic, professional, interesting, intellectual and artistic.
The centre piece of the exhibition is a huge scale model of the city of Shanghai, showing all existing and approved buildings.  Visitors can view the model at "ground level", or ascend a gallery running around it for views from above.
