The New Skyground is an impressive pedestrian street and one of the major draws of Shanghai for its combination of the old and the new. Located in the centre of Shanghai, south of Huaihai Zhong Lu, its traditional Shikumen (Stone Gate) buildings have retained their original walls, tiles, and exterior, while the interiors have been outfitted with modern décor and spacious layouts.
The South Block is a lively complex of shopping, entertainment, and leisure areas. There are international dining outlets as well as ornament shops and cinemas. The North Block has the hybrid Shikumen buildings with their traditional fa?ades and modern interiors. This section also has many high-end stores and western restaurants.
