Oriental Pearl TV Tower

The Shanghai Oriental Pearl Television Tower stands at the heart of the Lujiazui financial district. With a height of 468m (1535ft), it is the world’s third tallest tower. It was actually the tallest building in China until the Shanghai World Financial Center was built in 2007. It consists of three gigantic columns 9m (30ft) in diameter, a spherical penthouse, an upper sphere, a lower sphere, five smaller spheres, the pedestal, and the square.

You can see the brilliant lights of the Tower at night from across the Bund or climb the Tower for a sweeping view of Shanghai. The Tower also houses the noteworthy Shanghai History Museum, which uses various media to illustrate the course of Shanghai’s urban, political, economic, cultural, and social development.
