The Badaling Great Wall (Chang Cheng)

There is a saying in China, "He who has never been to The Great Wall is not a true man".

The Great Wall symbolizes Chinas ancient history and a UNESCO World Heritage site, built in stages throughout the ages as Chinas defense from attack from the north.  It is often said that the Great Wall stretches around one-twentieth of the worlds circumference, and is the only man-made object visible from space with the naked eye.  The section of the Great Wall that is most often visited was built during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644 A.D.).  The sheer scale of the wall can only be appreciated with a visit to marvel at the human endeavour needed to create such a magnificent structure.

Ming Tombs (Shi San Ling)

Located about 50 kilometers northwest of Beijing, the Ming Tombs lie scattered at the southern foot of Tianshou Mountainin Changping Country.  Within the Ming Tombs are 13 ofthe 16 emperors of the Ming Dynasty. Two tombs are open to the public for viewing.  One is Chang Tomb, the largest of the tombs, and the other is Ding Tomb.
