The Ancient City Wall, which stretches round the old city.  The northern side runs parallel to the railway.  Xian was originally a walled city, and even today the wall is considered a landmark dividing the city into the inner part and the outer part.  The city wall is massive - tall, long and thick. The South Gateand North Gate are the two main entrances to the inner city.  The city itself is neatly arranged along the city wall.

The Shaanxi History Museum in Xian, regarded as “the pearl of ancient dynasties and house of Chinese treasures”, gives a miniature overview of the thousands of years of Chinese history and the splendid ancient cultures of olden times.

The Grand Mosque of Xian is the largest and best preserved of the early mosques of China.  Built primarily in the Ming Dynasty when Chinese architectural elements were synthesized into mosque architecture, the mosque resembles a fifteenth century Buddhist temple with its single axis lined with courtyards and pavilions.

Bell Tower is the largest and best-preserved bell tower of its kind in China.  In ancient times it was used to tell time together with the Drum Tower: the bell-toll meant that morning was coming, and the drumbeat meant that night was falling.  The tower marks the geographical center of Xi’an’ sold city and is within sight of the Drum Tower.  Many art exhibitions are held here throughout the year.

Hui Food street - Muslim Quarter is just located behind ( north of ) the Drum Tower. The Xian Muslim quarter is a delightful place you mustn''t miss! The bazaar in the Muslim area is most attractive with a wide area of stalls selling everything. The streets and walkways are full of life. The shopping is great, very cheap and some unusual items we will seldom see anywhere else in China.
